Oxford classes
English tutor, 25 years experience, qualified teacher, Gcse, A Level
I'm a qualified teacher with more than 25 years' experience. I graduated from University College London with a degree in English Language and Literature, then took a postgraduate certificate in education from The Institute of Education, University of London, to qualify as a secondary school and further education teacher. I also have EFL qualifications and have been joint chief assessor for the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, assessing teacher training courses both in this country and abroad. I was also head of teacher training at a local Oxford private school.
I teach English at Key Stage 2 and 3 and below, 11+ Common Entrance exam (including specific preparation for Magdalen College School entrance), GCSE, A Level and first year undergraduate levels, and have spent a lot of time recently helping a large number of students with last minute revision before this summer's exams. My two children have also done GCSE and A2 Level exams this summer, so I am aware at first hand the stress that exams can cause.
I normally work from home, and charge £25 (£20 for EFL tuition) per hour. I can travel if it's not practicable for the student to come to me, but would have to charge a little more for travelling expenses, depending on distance.
I would be very happy to discuss on the phone any details of the sort of help you need.
