OCVA Welcome you to their 2nd Volunteering Information Fair 31/10/09

As part of CSV’s Make a Difference Day celebrations, and after its successful launch in 2008, the Volunteer Centre at Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action (OCVA) is hosting their second Volunteer Information Fair in the Roysse Room at Abingdon Guildhall, 10am-4pm on the 31st of October.
The fair welcomes anyone who is interested in volunteering to come along and see what’s on offer locally.

OCVA has invited a number of local voluntary organisations to display information on their work and how people can get involved in volunteering with them. Organisations such as Guide Dogs for the Blind (along with some of their puppies), Go Active and the South & Vale Carers Centre amongst others will be represented.

Volunteer Centre manager, Lindsay Watts, is passionate about the Voluntary Information Fair; “It’s a really great opportunity to find out about volunteering opportunities you can get involved with locally, meet some of the organisations who need volunteers and see how you can help”.

Volunteers can learn new skills, boost their CVs and contribute to their community. A recent survey by CSV has demonstrated that 63% of volunteers feel less stressed than before they began volunteering, with 17% even going as far as saying it improves their sex lives!

Make a Difference Day is the UK's biggest day of volunteering. The nationwide campaign happens each October; its aim is to highlight the amazing impact Volunteers can make just by giving the simple gifts of time, skills or muscle power!

If anyone would like to speak with the Volunteer Centre about the fair, or would like advice about beginning volunteering, please contact Lindsay Watts on 01865 251946 or email Lindsay.Watts@ocva.org.uk

OCVA would like to thank Abingdon Town Council for the funding grant received to host our Volunteering Information Fair.
