An experienced Carer is required for a young man, living at home with his parents in an adapted house. He is totally dependant on others to meet his needs as a result of an Acquired Brain Injury. You will join a team who provide a very high standard of care and therapy. Previous experience of working for people with complex care needs preferred and full training specific to his needs will be given.
Hours: A waking night shift (11pm – 9am), plus alternate Saturday nights. A degree of flexibility is required and there is the possibility of additional hours to cover holidays, absences etc. Rates of pay: £11- £13 A CRB check will be pursued. Telephone 01844 214669, Quoting Ref (LF1009)

FURTHER RECRUITMENT INFORMATION

This young man sustained an acquired brain injury, as a result of a road traffic injury, 5 years ago. This has resulted in him being dependent on others for all his personal, physical, social, communication and recreational needs. He currently attends Henley College, where he is supported to access a multi-sensory curriculum. This young man lives in the family home with newly adapted accommodation for him and his care team.

He is a delightful young man who, like most teenagers, particularly enjoys jokes and music.

As carer you will support this young man in every aspect of his daily living, proving the very highest levels of care in a sympathetic and supportive environment. You should have a positive and understanding approach to working with a young person with a disability. As carer you will join the small team of professionals who already support him and his family.

You will be provided with an induction and training programme appropriate to the position and will receive supervision and support to help you develop your role.

You will be required to complete a satisfactory 8 week probationary period.

You are entitled to 5.6 weeks holiday per annum pro rata.

It is a legal requirement that before starting work with a new employer, you must produce evidence of your entitlement to work in the UK, therefore should you be invited to interview, please bring photographic ID, a photocopy of the photographic ID and a colour passport size photograph.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Experience with working with young people with complex disabilities preferred

• Driver preferred

• Non-smoker

• Good communication skills

• Honest and reliable

• Able to demonstrate initiative and a consistent approach to work

• Able to work with family and all professionals involved in meeting this young man’s needs.

• Willing to undertake training and transfer skills learnt into your work.

• Able and willing to undertake aspects of domestic work.

• Be actively involved in the supervision and appraisal system.

• Two excellent references and a CRB check would need to be pursued.
