Drummer looking to start Afrobeat Dub Reggae project

Hi there,

I am a drummer who's been playing for about 12 years living in oxford for the next 2 or 3 years, looking to start a project soon that incorporates afro-beat, dub, reggae, latin, afrocuban, etc and maybe some psychedelia/drum n bass/dubstep elements etc...... This is the general idea but also want to make it new and and creative and very open to different ideas. I would like to keep it fairly open in some sections with improvised parts but with many written sections/patterns too. I have a few musicians who may be interested but I'm still just getting some interest for any instrument really, including guitar, bass, keys, horns, possibly percussion, possibly vocals.......let me know if this sounds like your thing and if you might be interested in a jam or what not. I have lots of rhythmic ideas/grooves/arrangements/structures in mind but need some good melodies!

I guess I would like to try a good balance of incorporating elements of interesting syncopated afro-beat/funk rhythms but also having some really groovy dub/reggae elements, so a variety of feels and tempos and dynamics to keep it interesting. I also particularly like older funk like 70's herbie hancock, cymande, parliament/funkadelic, the meters, mandrill, fela kuti and some T.O.P., Roy Ayers etc

Hope to hear from you, send me an email if you're interested evmcgreg@hotmail.com
cheers.......

-I've attached a clip of me playing although it doesnt necessarily represent what I want to do in this project.......just to give you an idea...

(also looking to possibly start a different project along the lines of of progressive/experimental/post rock/ambient/ bla bla etc type band. let me know if you're interested)
