Climb Kilimanjaro

Climb Kilimanjaro with a great team.

Find your own way to Nairobi where we will pick you up at your hotel. Upon arriving at the hotel in Arusha, you will meet your guide and be debriefed. At this point, you can pay the 850 pounds for the trip.

I climbed with this guide and his team in September of this year, and they were fantastic. For £850, you are getting top service, caring guides, great food and a trip along the best route (Rongai) on Kilimanjaro.

Trips can be made with any size group, and, if you choose, on another route.

We are also looking at working with a local charity in Tanzania. So, if you are so inclined, you can raise a bit of money from family and friends (even £100 is hugely helpful).

The only other costs are snacks for the trail and rental of a sleeping bag, poles or winter jacket, if needed. The cost of the tent is included.

Porters will carry most of your gear, set up and take down your tent and cook your food.

The other cost is tips for the porters. All tolled, this normally works out to about £200. These guys really earn this money!

The £850 also covers a night in the hotel before and after the climb and transportation back to either Nairobi or Kilimanjaro airports.

You can get flights from either Manchester or London to Nairobi for a total of £350. Flights to Kilimanjaro are about £500.

The climb, which is mostly a walk, though some of the time there are small boulders to walk over, takes 6 days. On day 5 you ascent and descend down to a camp on the south side. on day 6 you walk to the exit gate.

The guide, Herment and his brother Sarafin are very friendly, they've always got your back and have over 8 years of experience on the mountain. Both Herment and Sarafin speak English, though Herment is better.

Bring along some small chocolates, the porters will love you for it!

Oh and Fitness on Kili is a myth. You need to be able to walk for 7hrs a day, though most other days are shorter.
