Skills
Experience in a number of the following areas is required:
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Educated to degree level in a relevant technical discipline
• Knowledge of Unix (Solaris, Linux, HP-UX) and/or Windows 2003/2008
• Knowledge of automated and manual testing techniques
• Excellent logical analysis skills and problem solving
• Ability to work well with developers and non-engineering personnel
Our client is a highly successful and innovative software company with offices in Edinburgh, Oslo, Henley and Boston. They specialize in Customer Interaction, Campaign Management and Analytical software that helps organizations build more responsive, long-term and profitable customer relationships.
They are currently expanding the Quality Assurance team within the Product Engineering group, and are looking to recruit a Software Engineer. The Product Engineering group is responsible for the production of high quality software, from the initial specification through to the release of software distributions.
Within that group, the QA team are responsible for the latter stages of the software life cycle, namely the testing of the software, both manual and automated, and the preparation and release of software distributions. An important aspect of the job is the promotion of quality throughout the engineering team and the company as a whole.
This is a challenging position within an existing engineering team. The diversity of the role means the candidate will require excellent communication skills, and an ability to communicate with users of all levels. The role requires strong technical analysis and problem solving ability, and an ability to work well on an individual basis, as well as within the team.
Responsibilities
• Test new versions of the software
• Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
• Assist in the development and execution of test plans
• Accurately track test results
• Maintain and develop the automated test suite
• Maintain internal infrastructure for building software distributions
Knowledge of one or more of the following areas is advantageous:
• Perl, SQL, C#, C, C++, Java, HTML, XML
• RDBMS Oracle, Teradata, MS SQL Server, DB2, ODBC
• Configuration management e.g. CVS, ClearCase, TFS, make and Ant
• Skills with one or more scripting languages
• Quick Test Professional or similar test tools
