Anda is a 19 year-old Romanian girl from Slatina, a city in the south of Romania. She wants to come to the UK as an au pair for a long term period to earn enough money to put herself through medical school to become a doctor.

She graduated from high school this summer. She tried to enter the Faculty of Medicine, but did not manage to obtain a scholarship place and the fees were too expensive for her family.

She wants to be an au pair because she loves children and she wants to earn some extra money to be able to afford to go to study at the Faculty of Medicine. She always wanted to become a doctor and said she will do anything to make her dream come true. She also wants to improve her English and sees this as the best opportunity to achieve her goal.

Anda likes travelling (she especially wants to see the UK because it has fascinated her since she was a child), socialising with friends, listening to music and dancing. She also likes writing poems – she published two books of poetry when she was 8 and 11 years old. She took some acting classes with a very famous actress in Romania, she had the chance to act on stage and in a short movie, and she really enjoyed the experience.

She smokes occasionally (only if her friends are smoking and only when she goes out).

Childcare Experience: Anda has some experience with children. She took care of her younger sister when her parents were away. She enjoyed this experience, even though she didn’t have much to do - she just needed to make sure that she was safe. She has also taken care of her cousins – they are a big family so she has many. The youngest one is 3 months old and the oldest is 11 years old. She spent a lot of time with all of them, but now she is taking care of a cousin who is 5 years old. She sees him 3 or 4 times a week when his parents are away. Sometimes they bring the boy to her house and she helps him with his homework. After they finish, they play, they color books, etc. Anda is a really artistic girl. She likes writing poems, acting, coloring books with children. She would like to be placed with a family with younger children because she has more experience with children who are up to 10 years old – but she wouldn’t say no to a family who have older children.

English Skills: Her English was fluent (she has studied it for 10 years) and she has no problems in expressing complex expressions about all subjects.
Other languages: She speaks Romanian (mother tongue) and also speaks French and Spanish at a medium level.

Housework: Anda is prepared to undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), shopping (Food, Groceries), care for babies, children or older children, washing, ironing, driving and caring for pets.

Character: Anda considers herself sociable, friendly, calm, very responsible and a pet lover.
Eating: Anda usually eats anything, but she doesn’t eat fatty cuts of meat. She likes fruits, yogurts and pizza.

Driving: Anda has her own car (an Opel Corsa) and since passing her test in 2008 drives every day.

Family: She lives with her Mother, her Father and her Sister. Her Mum is 40 years old and is working as a social assistant. Her Father is 42 and a technician. Her sister is 16 years old and is still in high school.
